Britain in Bloom: Whitehead has been picked to enter Britain in Bloom in 2016. The town joins Ahoghill who will also be representing the Borough. Whitehead was last in the national competition in 2014 when it received a Silver Gilt at finals in Bristol. Nearby town Carrickfergus also represented Northern Ireland in what was the 50th Britain in Bloom. more...

Ulster in Bloom: The 2015 Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition was announced with Whitehead Train Station winning the Community Rail Halt Award. Whitehead was also placed second in the Small Town category. more...

Biodiversity: Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s has been active in implementing its innovative Local Biodiversity Action Plan. The latest development, called the Shore Thing project in Whitehead was delivered by Alison Diver, from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and Rebecca Hunter, from Ulster Wildlife. The pupils began with a timed species search and found an abundance of hermit crabs, limpets, periwinkles and anemones.
